Escaping Reality

REALITY -- I guess this is that one word that worries me a lot. :) It's vague in the sense that life is very much a game. You get to be happy for a moment, then all of a sudden you'd be under the rain. You think you are "getting there", being successful and all... but then you realize it's only a pinch of what you can really get from this world. You get to fight in a battle thinking that you are prepared enough to face everything, then you get stabbed in the back without you knowing. No warning signs; and I guess that is something about reality that we can't totally erase. However, I know all of us have wished to at least escape reality for a moment. We have our ways on doing it and for me, that is when I watch Asian Dramas. :)

It really helps a lot especially when I need encouraging words of wisdom about life or scenes that I know I can relate my life with. Well, there are also those times I'd just love to get all giddy and smittened! :D I've talked about how I couldn't resist a day without watching even a single episode of a drama, right? Though I want to share it all, I bet this online diary would eventually be a review blog once I do that, so I'm "controlling" myself not to get into reviewing 'em. :D  But then again IMHO, Jdoramas are really on top of the list when it comes to learning life principles or even re-learning them. :)

Maybe some of you may disagree with me about this "escaping reality" thing, because I honestly sometimes would wish I didn't get this far in making too much escape from the real world. Sometimes we people can get really attached to the fake worlds we make that there's a tendency not to decipher which world is which anymore. I'm guilty of that! :D But I regret nothing... because for me, it's part of molding myself.

So I always have that reality check in my system, so not to confuse myself of where I am now. :) I know in myself I've changed alot. I am influenced by the society I am in and my addiction to this world of Asian TV Shows. :D  Whatever words I learn either from this society or from the shows I watch that in my opinion are worthy of learning, I adapt. I carry them over as life principles in the end. :)

I'm not that grade school Sandra anymore who had this all goody-goody image nor that person who's gotten high grades and all when I was in high school. I've grown to expect not only the best but also the worst things that can come to my life. Although in truth, no one can really escape reality, of course there would be those times that we can't really help but make a world out of our ideals.

But how much we try to get away, in the end we'll come to a realization that there's no such thing as a real escape from it. We can only face life for real and be ready for what may come. Although there is no assurance of being successful in the end, at least we can say we did something! :)

So how about you? What's your way of "escaping" reality?

I never pictured Asian dramas to help in "escaping" reality but I guess that's a good way of looking at it :) It's true that life has a funny way of presenting us really good stuff then all of a sudden, everything's taken away from us. Good balance to keep us going, if you ask me. My way of escaping reality is maybe when i'm online and get lost in the internet.. or maybe when I just walk around alone and get to reflect on life, basically.

My sister is an avid fan of k-dramas. Well, for me, I've just started watching it. :)

To escape reality, I blog. :)

You really have a strong definition of reality. Which is really good since you can grasp the general idea of it. :) Well, I read books so as to escape the things that are bothering me. Especially romance novels, they help a lot. ;-) I should try watching jdoramas too! I think marathons can also be a way of escaping reality :)

Hello Sandra :) Thank you for visiting me.
Watching dramas, anime and reading always help me to get away from reality for me. Also doing arts and crafts pulls me into my own little bubble for a while. I agree with you, there are several things one can learn from watching dramas. Even if they have the most unrealistic story, at least a lesson can be found.

From the ones that you showed in the pictures, I loved Absolute Boyfriend and My Princess.

I enjoy watching dramas once in a while but I never see them as a way to escape from reality, in fact, it has the reverse effect on me. Of course the evoke all sorts of emotions, but they actually make me relate to reality even more because some things that you see in dramas actually happen in real life.

My way of escaping reality is through the internet. I'm not referring to spending time on social networks, because in the end you interact with people anyway. But I usually make myself busy with web development stuff. :D
Another way is, spending hours on books. XD

Jdoramas are nice to watch, but I get picky. I think my all time fave is Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO).

I have never watched GTO but they say it's a really nice jdorama. Plus Oguri Shun's in it :)) Thanks for your wonderful comment about what you do to escape reality. Yes, sometimes dramas can attack you with the emotions in the scene... :)

OMG Gretch! I'm so happy to know someone who's really into Jdoramas. Jdrama is my first love, Kdrama is the second. lols. All thanks to Matsujun's acting in hanayoridango, & Ogurishun's stand up! :)) Yes those good old jdramas are really nice. :>

I've already watched Zettai Kareshi (but not the special yet), Gokusen 1 2 3, Meichan, Yamato, Nobutawaproduce, atashinchi no danshi, my boss my hero, and etc.

I've just watched mybossmyhero yesterday and finished it awhile ago. The Yakuza dramas are really cool when you get to watch it, ne? :) then i'm actually in episode 6 of Liar Game right now, and I suddenly missed Matsuda Shota's acting. ^^ Erika Toda for the win! She's really good whatever genre she plays. :)

And oh, Code Blue with Yamapi on it is JUST PERFECT! :) I find it really interesting since I'm also taking a course related to medicine, so somehow I get to realize how fastpaced hospital life is, and all that alertness. :))

Haven't heard of Matsujun's Smile Drama, but speaking of Matsujun, I just opened a new episode of Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku, and it's not boring at all. I'm at EP2 right now.

Talk about addiction! :)) I've been skipping Mr.Brain and Tumbling, but I might as well give it a try! ^^ Thanks so much! I really appreciate your comment. FOR REAL! :) ^-^

and oh about the monotony, I get your point. hehe Sometimes they seem to shout the words neutrally or something, but I'm cool with it :D What I love about jdrama though is you can really feel the emotion more often than not.. and I guess their songs instrumental or not are really nice. The melody itself gives you the emotion for the scenes, so jdrama is really LOVE :))

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It's very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
